ILLUS 220 Finals

For this brief i had to create three book covers, two for the Penguin Design awards and one book of my choice.
This was my chosen cover, and is the autobiography of the infamous English prisoner Charles Bronson. Created with hand rendered text and layered texture, with a simple graphic back.
One Flew Over the Cuckoos was the Penguin cover, and was created digitally with hand rendered text.

Brothers Grimm Fairy tales was the book for the Puffin cover, and was created with layered paper cut out, with text added digitally.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest finals

These are my three final designs for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest.

Any feedback on which cover works best is more than welcome.
I am using the joker and queen to symbolise the books two main characters, McMurphy and nurse Ratched. In this cover the house of cards represents the balance of power within the hospital.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest- Typography

Currently working on the cover of the novel 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' for the Penguin Design awards.
I have created the cover typography using a bamboo pen and paints, and later altering them on photoshop.
Here are some of the colour experiments i have done.
